This recipe, that I developed for Spice Islands, for a pumpkin cheese ball is so cute and easy to make that you really need to add it to your Thanksgiving table this year and every year. You only a handful of ingredients to whip up this easy appetizer.
Spice Islands Garlic and Herb Seasoning and a little Worcestershire mixed with cheddar and cream cheese give the cheese ball it’s great flavor. Then just roll the cheese ball in more cheese plus Everything Bagel Seasoning for even more flavor boost.
Whip it up, roll it up, then pop it in the fridge to chill – that’s it. And on the plus side, since it does need some chill time, making it the day before is the way to go. Just keep it wrapped until serving time.
- 2 8-ounce packages cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- 2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 tablespoon Spice Islands® Organic Garlic & Herb Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 to 3 tablespoons Spice Islands® Everything Bagel Seasoning
- 1 small bell pepper
-
Using an electric mixture, mix cream cheese, 1 cup cheddar cheese, Spice Islands Garlic & Herb Seasoning and Worcestershire sauce on low speed until combined. Form mixture into a ball.
-
Combine remaining cheddar cheese and Spice Islands Everything Bagel Seasoning on plate. Place the cheese ball on the plate and roll in cheese mixture, using hands to press cheese mixture onto cheese ball until all sides are coated.
-
Place a double layer of plastic wrap on work surface. Sprinkle any remaining cheese mixture onto plastic wrap. Place cheese ball on plastic wrap and fold plastic tightly around cheese ball.
-
Place 4 thick rubber bands, staggered around the cheese ball to form a pumpkin shape.
-
Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours to overnight.
-
To serve, carefully remove rubber bands and plastic wrap. Remove stem from bell pepper and insert in center of ‘pumpkin’.
-
Serve with crackers and sliced bell pepper if desired.
